Wye Bishopswood
Lower Bishopswood
This stretch of water is situated on the river Wye, just a few miles from Ross-on-Wye. It is set in very pleasant countryside and can produce good bags of chub and roach. Also, during recent years, good-sized barbel are beginning to show on the water. There are a fair number of pike present for those interested in this species. The water extends to approximately three quarters of a mile.
Upper Bishopswood
This stretch of water is adjacent to and upstream of Lower Bishopswood. The beat is approximately three quarters of a mile long and holds the same species of fish found on Lower Bishopswood. There are some restrictions on this water as follows:- Mondays and Tuesdays are not available to our membership because, as part of the conditions of sale, the previous owners have retained these days for their exclusive use. The top section of the beat, from Kerne Bridge down to the canoe launch, is only available to Full Members of the Society. Honorary Bishopswood Members and day permit holders may only fish this water from the top boundary of Lower Bishopswood, up to the canoe launch. The Monday and Tuesday rule applies as above.
The Society has an Honorary Bailiff who lives nearby. He regularly checks people fishing the water. Remember, if the bailiff asks for your card, they are working for the Society and you, its members. We have had reports that some members have been casting their baits across to the opposite bank. If there is someone fishing opposite, then common courtesy is only to fish to the middle of the river.
